ACTIVITIES
UM
Equestrian Club
The UM Equestrian Club (UMEC) offers students at the University
of Maryland an on-campus learning experience with emphasis on the
proper care and management of horses. The ANSC Department provides
the horses, facilities, equipment and tack, so that all the students
have to do is focus on is equine care and management, riding and
fun. The UMEC sponsors many equine educational activities, on-campus
horse shows, and off-campus social events throughout the year. Students
with no previous horse experience are encouraged to join.

UM
Equestrian Team
The University of Maryland Equestrian Team (UMET) is made up of
students of all riding levels that compete in through the Intercollegiate
Horse Show Association throughout the year. Members of the UMET
compete with 15 colleges in Maryland and Virginia and travels to
different campuses for these competitions. The UMET members take
weekly lessons at Waredaca in Sunshine, MD. Although the UMET
is not directly related to the Equine Studies program at UMCP, many
students do take advantage of the equine course offerings with the
ANSC Department and the Institute of Applied Agriculture.

Veterinary
Science Club
The Veterinary Science Club at the University of Maryland is an active
organization of students interested in the field of veterinary medicine.
The primary objectives of the club are to promote a deeper understanding
of the numerous opportunities in veterinary medicine, to keep updated
on the latest information concerning veterinary schools, and to provide
social activities. Club members conduct mock interviews for veterinary
schools as well as organize field trips to veterinary schools and research
centers. Although many of the members are pre-veterinary students, they
encourage anyone with an interest in the study, health, and care of
animals to join.
Students can also
participate in many ANSC Clubs as well as Clubs
and Activities at the University of Maryland.
