Springhill Farm Intern program

Spring Hill Farm in Fauquier County, Virginia is seeking qualified interns interested in a spring semester and summer internship (January-September) that will focus on foaling, neonatal care and breeding from January through June and preparing yearlings for public auction from June through September. Duties will include stall cleaning, turn out, feeding, medicating, grooming, bathing, exercising, assisting with veterinary and farrier care, etc… Applicants must have a minimum of two years of equine work experience or experience combined with equine production classes. The ability and desire to learn through a hands-on working experience is also prerequisite. One faculty, one personal and two work related references required. Resume and references can be submitted to the appropriate advising or career coordinator at your university by 11/8/04.

Spring Hill Farm is also seeking qualified summer interns (June-August) to work with the breeding, raising and initial training of Thoroughbred race horses. Depending on applicant experience, applicant preference and farm needs, workload can focus on mares and foals or yearlings. Duties will be the same as the duties for the spring/summer internship. The work experience required and the pre-requisites and references also remain the same. Number of positions available for Summer Interns may be limited as Spring-Summer internships fill.
