Hunt Cap Horse Shows Two Internships

Hunt Cap Horse Shows has two May through October internships available, one in horse show management and the other in course design. All shows are held at South Branch Farms in York, PA. The Intern should be a person that is interested in horses and has horse showing experience. These shows are Hunter/Equitation schooling and high caliber, unrecognized shows. We range from 75-150 exhibitors per show. This may be used as an Independent Study or Internship for an Equestrian Studies program if it is acceptable to your school. Specific details can be worked out. Housing and food for the shows will be provided if needed.

Horse Show Manager general expectations:

1) Availability for shows - includes a day of preparation, the day of the show and a day of clean-up. The possibility of another day or two each month if necessary.
2) Basic computer skills, especially typing, and a willingness to learn different programs if necessary.
3) Horse show manager would have or be responsible for overseeing various jobs the day of the show - including Secretary Stand, starters, announcers, or Manager. This would be designated ahead of time.
4)Horse show manager would have other duties including point and championship calculations, copying, mailing list and e-mail updates, ribbon counting, and whatever is required to run a horse show would be included.

Course Designer general expectations:

1) Availability for shows - includes a day of preparation and the day of the show. The possibility of another day or two each month if necessary.
2) This would be a hands-on approach to course design, course set-up, and day of show jump crew oversight.

3) Course Designer would be responsible for designing, setting fences and distances and day of show details. Courses can be faxed ahead of time and preliminarily set up a few days before the show. Two of the shows involve a permanent outside course.
