Welcome to the Equine Studies Program
at the University of Maryland!

The University of Maryland offers a comprehensive learning experience in the areas of equine science and management. Students can emphasize on horses while earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or pursue Certification in Equine Business Management.

In 2001, the Department of Animal and Avian Sciences and the Institute of Applied Agriculture began a new initiative to strengthen and enhance our equine offerings. One year later, we expanded our equine program to include 2 new faculty, a new certificate program, enhanced equine facilities, and improved youth and adult horse extension programs.
